After two or three tries at the left and right fronts of the front of the sweater, I finally got to join it to the back. Now comes the real challenge: the neck. I've never done anything like this where I have to pick up and knit around to make a neckband and it's intimidating because it has to look just right or it will be a shoddy bit of work.
After that will be the challenge of the sleeves. Because this is a fitted sweater with negative ease, the gauge is really critical. For some reason, the back piece and the bottom of the front piece have knits and purls that are pretty much even with no "rowing out" much at all. Either the fabric's stitches had relaxed or something while it sat in limbo or I was doing some spectacular knitting when I started this project that I can't manage to replicate now. No matter...the sleeve openings match in size and that in itself is an accomplishment I'm happy about.
I am hoping to finish by Christmas so I can wear it to church for Christmas eve service :)
