For the last couple of weeks Bacchus has been awol from the yard about 6 times. We live in a kind neighborhood and we always get a call to come and get him. The first couple of times it happened Tom walked the fence line to see how he might be accomplishing this feat. Then we put huge concrete blocks in front of the yard gate so he couldn't slip under that. We also blocked under the car gate in a similar manner. All holes filled, all spaces blocked. Still he got out. Yesterday morning I ran some errands and when I got home there were messages on the answering machine that someone had corralled the boy but also calls that he had escaped. Again. So I drove around the neighborhood looking. No sign. When I got home there was another message saying that Bacchus was visiting with the men at the construction site of the new school and would I please come and fetch him. Hmmm. With myself home and Bacchus too, I felt all was well. Until about 6 o'clock when Ryan came home with the boy. He had seen him while driving home from work, picked him up and put him in the yard. He went to get something from his truck and when he turned around, there was Bacchus. Houdini I mean. How the heck was he getting out??? We got into the car and backed out of the drive way and turned out the headlights. It was pretty dark last night but we could still make him out okay. His white coat is so bright. After about 10 minutes waiting, we saw him stand in front of the car gate. He climbed up and out. Amazing. More amazing than the climbing goat from last year. Now, what to do with a climbing dog? Any idea?
